A museum for George Lucas – it will be built in California. To be precise it will be built in Los Angeles. Before there where plans having it in San Francisco.
The 400 million dollar George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is planned by the MAD architecture studio in Beijung. They created two different and also competing designs, each for different US cities.
The board of the museum revealed it will get things forward in Los Angeles. Thoughts are that the museum can benefit the surrounding residential community way better.
The futuristic structure will be situated in the Exposition Park, which is near the Natural History Museum and also the Coliseum.
“South Los Angeles’s Promise Zone best positions the museum to have the greatest impact on the broader community, fulfilling our goal of inspiring, engaging and educating a broad and diverse visitorship,” said the board.
“Exposition Park is a magnet for the region and also accessible from all parts of the city,” they continued.
“As a museum uniquely focused on narrative art, we look forward to becoming part of a dynamic museum community, surrounded by more than 100 elementary and also high schools, one of the country’s leading universities, as well as three other world-class museums.”
In the museum itself there is place for galleries. In all they are 9,000 square meters big. Not only inside, the building attracts also from the outside. On the roof top there will be green terraces with plants and also trees. Under the building there will be parking space for 1,800 cars.

Mr Lucas is expected to contribute about 1 billion dollar to the project. It is anticipated going to create thousands of new jobs in Los Angeles.
The mayor of the city, Mr Eric Garcetti clamied that the collection will carry “so much meaning in the history and legacy of Los Angeles”. Mr George Lucas private collection will be shown in the museum. This includes art and also memorabilia from Star Wars and the Indiana Jones movies.
“LA is gaining a new jewel with the breathtaking Lucas Museum of Narrative Art – and its presence here means that a day at Exposition Park will soon bring unrivaled opportunities,” he said.
