The JFK Airport (John F Kennedy International Airport) in Queens is going to be completely redone. This was announced by the current governor of New York. The Governor Andrew outlined the vision in an presentation a few days ago. He is aiming to transform the international airport for the 21 st century.
It is planned to unify the layout for the terminal connections. Also the Governor Andrew announced large improvements for access roads and also expanding the mass transit rail system.
“JFK International Airport welcomes more international passengers to the United States than any other airport in the country, and also that number is expected to grow dramatically over the next several decades,” Cuomo said in a statement.
“But for far too long, JFK has fallen short of today’s global standards,” the governor continued. “There are overcrowded facilities, confusing on-airport roadways, and also poor airport accessibility. In fact, JFK ranks 59th among the world’s top 100 airports.”
At the moment the New Yorks JFK Airport is split across six separate terminals. First stages date back to 1948. The Terminals and also other buildings are connected by the so called AirTrain light rail and also various access roads.
